Our volunteers make a huge impact by providing a friendly weekly call to an older person (or people as volunteers may choose to call more than one) in Norfolk. Sometimes our volunteers are the only people the older people talk to all week.

As a result of Covid 19 many organisations and individuals use more online services than ever before.  We have found many older people are being left behind by these chances, making them more isolated.  In order to help older people Age UK Norfolk has set up let's get digital. 

Due to the pandemic, some older people don’t have the confidence or even the friends and family to take a short walk down the road or to their local shops which most of us take for granted. You can make a real difference to someone’s life and give them something to look forward to and help them achieve their goals by becoming a Travel Companion volunteer.

Can you offer someone a friendly voice to help them feel connected and less lonely? We need volunteers to let people in later life know there is someone there for them.

Our Telephone Befriending is a service designed to help ensure regular contact is given to those who need it most and we can know that they are safe and have everything they need. Being called on a regular basis makes a real difference to the way a person feels about themselves and will help to improve their physical and mental wellbeing, letting them know they are not alone.

We are seeking dedicated volunteers who are passionate about women's health, eager to make a positive impact in the community and to offer assistance during the workshops and exercise classes.

Our volunteer Benefits Advisers aid clients with disabilities in Norwich. The help they offer comes via assisting clients to complete Personal Independent Payment (PIP) forms.

We’re seeking to recruit Young People as Trustees to influence our work with a diverse range of young people.

If you are aged 16-30 and want to contribute your knowledge and lived experience to MAP, we are very interested in hearing from you as we are looking to represent young people on our board in order to make decisions that are centred on their needs. 

We  are looking for trustees to join the Age UK Norwich board to help us shape the charity and make Norwich a great place to enjoy later life. We want to make sure that Norwich is an age-friendly city and our trustees help us to drive this agenda forward.

Equal Lives has a great deal of payroll and administrative related work which we require assistance with, if you’re a process driven and logically minded individual, with a passion to free the world from disabling barriers, then we want to hear from you!  This role would greatly help us with supporting disabled people in the local community.

Age UK Norfolk’s information and advice service provides advice and support on issues that affect older people, their families carers and friends.  The help they provide can make a real difference to an older person’s life.

Money matters volunteers help an older person to manage their finances so they can remain independent for as long as possible.

Advocacy volunteers help older people to voice their concerns and assert their rights. They support the older person by providing information, practical help with phone calls, letters and face-to-face interviews.

We currently host a weekly session for clients which includes games for them to enjoy such as Archery, Boccia, Snooker, Darts, Table Tennis and Kurling followed by time to socialise with refreshments. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in working with people in the community and for those who would like to help encourage social interaction in a fun and supportive environment.

You will need to be enthusiastic, welcoming and empathetic to help clients feel comfortable about participating, whatever their level of physical fitness or previous experience of playing football or
other team sports. 

We have many different volunteer opportunities at Opening Doors with a wide range of working hours. These roles can be supporting someone at the office, attending a meeting, supporting an advocacy group, supporting a group to run an information stand or going to a social event.

Shopmobility is a scheme that supports people to rent mobility scooters or other mobility aids during their visit to the city. Shopmobility is based in Chantry Place (previously Chapelfield Shopping Centre) and we are looking for volunteers to help with the day-to-day running of the shop.

Trustees play a crucial role in governing our organisation and helping to steer the direction of our services.  As a pan-disability organisation our trustees have a wealth of personal experience and expertise to bring to the organisation.
